- The author of photography, who was also a scientist, devoted himself for more than twelve years to graphically documenting the development of gestation.
- The 8 million copies of Time Magazine's number in which the report "The Drama Before Birth" containing this and other photographs of Lennart Nilsson's fetuses was sold out in a few days.
- All the fetuses that appear in the images minus one had been aborted for different medical reasons. The photographer had an agreement with a Swedish hospital that warned him when there was a fetus available to photograph. The photographs were made in a special room with lights and lenses designed for the project.
- The images have also been included in the book "A child is born" which has been published in 20 countries and has already 5 editions.
- The photographer, Lennart NIsson, received the title of honorary professor of the Swedish government, this distinction is granted to those who make a significant educational contribution.
