Photographic Experiments: how a homeless person sees the world through a disposable camera

AT > BLOG

Cafe Art is an organization thatsupports the homeless in London. One of his latest initiatives has been todistribute one hundred disposable cameras among homeless people and ask them to photograph the city. Among all the photographs received, the winners were selected to be part of the MyLondon calendar. The winning artists not only contributed with the images, but also participated in the entire elaboration process and contributed to the project by telling their personal stories.

David Tovey, winner of the last two editions of the MyLondon calendar, says that participating in the contest has meant a big change in his life. Before the contest -he explains- he wasn´t able to talk to anyone or look at anyone in the face. "It's amazing how the camera can change someone's self-esteem," he thinks.
